Olivia Hoyda
Hi Mrs. Kelly-
I’m working on the layout of my image piece now, and I can’t really find a title that I “love” the way it goes with my piece. I was wondering-could I leave my image piece untitled?
Mrs. Kelly
My concrete noun is award and my absract noun was victory or pride!
Olivia
I like that!!!! A lot
Mrs Kelly
My concrete noun is painting and the abstract is pride
Molly
Mrs. Kelly
My concrete noun is the crabapple tree in my front yard and my abstract noun is memories.

~~~Katie
Hi Mrs. Kelly!!
Emma
KATiE
This is really helpful
does anybody have any good book reccomendations????? Im going 2 the library tmrw and i havent heard of any good books lately. HELP!!!!!
ellie
some good books are shark girl, how to become popular, and sisterhood of the traveling pants
Try “The Mother Daughter Book Club” by Heather Vogel Frederick or maybe the Bayern series by Shannon Hale. Both would probably appeal more to girls than boys. Either way, I think you’d like them. Also, you might want to look into reading “My Brother Sam is Dead” which is about a boy during the Revolutionary War. It’s pretty interesting if you’re into historical fiction.
Hope this help!!
Katie
Try books by Margret Peterson Haddix too. Good luck!
Katie
Hi mrs kelly,
i was wondering if we needed to do anything for the memoir.
~~~~MiChaEL pArsLeY
Mrs. Kelly,
I have a question about the homework.
When we had to finish seedfolks does that mean that we had to finish the chart that came along with it?
Anna B
thanks katie!!! I got the mother daughter book club and its really good!
Ellie
Glad you like it!
See you in period 3/4.
Katie
My memoir is two full pages long. I’ve seen ones that are about a paragraph and ones that are about a page, so I’m wondering if mine is too long?
Thanks!
See you in period 3/4,
Claire
Come to think of it, my memoir is also two pgs. long. Should I be cutting things out too?
Most of my memoir is description and detail! I like how you tell us to add onto it every day. It is less stressful!
Ellie
What’s the non fiction book thing about?
Let me know…
K.T.
For anyone who wants recommendations:

“My Brother Sam is Dead” Christopher & James Collier

Mrs. Kelly
I love the tanka poetry and I can’t wait to learn about hpw it works tomorrow.
Right, don’t worry about anything but the index cards.
what does it mean by final draft due with an extra chunk for seed packet?
Mrs. Kelly,
I have one question. Is it okay if my poems are one 2 sheets of paper?
Olivia Hoyda
Mrs. Kelly,
For homework, should we start putting our subtopics into sentence form? Or should we just organize the facts into the three subtopics?
Thanks,
~~~~~~~~~~~MicHAeL pArsLeY
We’ve already done the personal seed packet, so is the ‘copying a chunk of the memoir’ still due?????????
-Sarah
)
Yes, choose one chunk that will go into your personal seed packet.
Is the quiz on just the vocabulary, or is there more? So far, I’ve only studied the vocab, so I’m just wondering. See everyone in 3/4!!
Ellie T
Ellie, I think the quiz is on the vocab. AND the comma rules.
K.T. :}
Mrs. Kelly,
When you mean make a Metaphor/Simile Slide, do we make a SEPARATE slide for that? Or do we just include a metaphor or simile within one of our many slides? I’m confused!
Thanks,
Katie
Also, when should we bring in the 2-3 dollar gift? Next monday?
K :]
Hi Mrs. Kelly I think I’m missing a few of the vocab words. Can you email them to me or put them up on the blog. Thanks so much!
Emma
hi emma
Hi Mrs. Kelly,
Are we going to be able to work on our PowerPoint tomorrow, or are we going to present tomorrow?
Mrs. Kelly,
Did you get my presentation on Walt Disney? What should I do if you didn’t get it because when I sent it to myself it didn’t go to the right email but I was lucky and I found it. Will everyone be able to present 2morrow?
Thanks,
Ellie
When do we have 2 finish our non fiction books by??? I already finished mine, but I’m just wondering.
Ellie
Mrs Kelly
When is the book form due??????????
I have a quick question……… In our adjetives homework worksheet, do we have to circle the articles and adjectives?????????????
Love the new design! It seems to fit well with the weather and temperature we have been having recently!
Katie
for the adverb homework my notes are in my journal, but my journal is in the classroom, should I come in early? I think that I should.
For the examples of expository essays what should we do? I don’t really remember talking about it in class…
Zac,
We didn’t get to it today, so do not worry about it. We will focus on it tomorrow.
yeah i dont remember talking about it in 3/4 either…
Ellie
my bio is on Jim Henson and i wanted to do him even though i didn’t exactly how he had positvely impacted the world and look what quote i found from him on the second page:
“At some point in my life I decided, rightly or wrongly, that there are many situations in this life that I can’t do much about-acts of terrorism,feelings of nationalistic prejudice,Cold War,etc.-so what I should do is concentrate on the situations that my energy can affect.”
That seems like a good quote.
Hi mrs. kelly!
Do we have any hw on friday? It seems like we dont have anything other than to tell you when we want to do a book talk!
Just double checking…
Katie
Hi Mrs. Kelly, what do you mean by “glitz, dance, and punch?”
Hi Mrs. Kelly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is kind of a random question, but will we be looking over or talking about the Good vs. Well sheet we did about a month ago? Or are we completely done?
K
hi Mrs Kelly,
I just wanted to know what bob said about the snow day tomorrow?????
I couldn’t find the answer ANYWHERE!!!!! Sorry!! Thanx!
~Annie R.
He says enjoy the long weekend! I wrote it the bottom of the HW Sheet.
Hi Mrs. Kelly– I love your new blog!!!!
See you in period 2/5
Mrs. Kelly, do we have to have a picture for EVERY page? Otherwise, we all have to do some 20 pg. worth of drawing.
Katie
Hi Mrs. Kelly!
Do we finish our rough sketches by Wednesday, as in tomorrow? I’m not even close to finishing.
Mrs. Kelly, do we have to do a illustration for the title of the book? Or just the pages inside?
Mrs. Kelly-
Here are my three answers to # 1&3 of the questions:
#1- I’ve learned may things about advertising but the main thing that I’ve learned is that they’re everywhere, since we see them so often though, we tend to not notice them. An example of this is when you see buses, they can be like advertising kings but you rarely notice them.
#3- Advertising plays many roles in my life. I think that the second most important role is commercials. You see so many commercials when you watch TV but and their job is to make you want to go out and by the item that they’re selling, from experience I have to admit that they do a pretty good job at it:) Also, one of the most unique ways to advertise is by what we wear. When you look closely at what people wear you realize that we’re all unique walking advertisements. We advertize and with the smallest little detail you are advertizing that piece. Usually, people never realize it.
-Sarah R.
hi Mrs. Kelly!
Where is the statement question thing you mentioned on the hw page?
Thanks,
Katie
Never mind. Found it….
For some reason, I only have 11 words. I checked on the hw page with the words on the top. There are only 11. Should the total number of questions for the quiz be 22 of 24 questions?
Thanks,
Katie
Oh my gosh we have to know all of the stuff about our children’s book, commas, and the roots, prefixes, and suffixes by wednesday; I don’t think I will be able to remember all of that!
~Annie
How long should our TV ad be? For my groups commercial we’re basing it off of, it’s about 2 minutes, would that be fine? Or should I make it shorter?
Drake,
You can create the illustrations on a separate piece of paper. Keep it black and white. Let’s conference on Monday.
Take care,
Mrs. Kelly
Drake,
We wil catch you up on Tuesday, no worries.
